The game ping test works by sending Internet Control Message Protocol packets to the specified host address to measure response times and detect errors from your choice of any one of the monitoring locations, giving you a global view of the host's availability and performance on the Internet.

After sending the packets, the ping test packet loss reports back the duration of each Internet Control Message Protocol ping request, along with the status of the request (success or failure). If the status of the ping is a failure, the system reports back an error code and an error description, such as a DNS error with an error code.

The ping tester tool helps network administrators quickly see the specific locations or regions around the world that may be experiencing slowdowns or outages. The ping test is not only useful for determining whether a website is up or down but it can be used to establish baseline performance metrics. By running multiple ping tests, you can identify average server response times from different locations around the globe. These baseline performance numbers can later be used in conjunction with our other free tools to gauge how performance changes over time.

If the network parameters are set correctly, we can ping the gateway address from other workstations to confirm if there is a problem with the gateway itself. If other workstations in the local area network are also unable to ping the gateway, it is likely that there is a problem with the gateway device itself. At this point, we only need to focus on troubleshooting the gateway device.
