Introduction

The Indrahar Pass Trek in Himachal Pradesh is one of the most amazing walks in the Indian Himalayas. Its beautiful scenery, sparkling streams, deep gorges, quiet lakes, and deodar forests all along the way blow the minds of many travellers of all ages. The walk goes from an elevation of 2,875 metres to 4,425 metres, and it is the perfect mix of different natural beauty and colours that are typical of Himachal. The Indrahar Pass, which divides the districts of Kangra and Chamba, shows a part of the Dhauladhar range and gives a great view of the villages below. It also shows the calm seas of Lake Mankini and Lake Kareri. But the Dhauladhar's dark boulder roads, rhododendrons, and wide range of avifauna at different altitudes just make the trip more interesting and draw tourists' attention. The Indrahar Pass walk is one of the easy to mild hikes in Himachal Pradesh. It starts in McLeodganj, where the Dalai Lama lives, and goes up to Triund at 2,875 metres. From the walk to Triund through Galu Devi and the Dharamkot hamlet, you can see the Kangra Valley and the town of Dharamshala down below. The path leaves Triund and goes to Lahesh Cave via Laka. On the way, it goes through a stone-filled field. The day's hike starts at Lahesh Cave and ends at Indrahar Pass. You must cross the rocks directly on the northeast face of the hill, maintaining the enormous peak on your right, to travel from Lahesh Cave to Indrahar Pass. After crossing the summit, the trail continues and climbs once more. The past is beautifully reflected in the present. The distant Punjabi fields and the Kangra Valley are obscured by a blue cloud to the south.

The Pir Panjal to the north, the Kishtwar to the west, the Bara Bangahal to the east, and the Manimahesh to the northeast are only a few of the mountain ranges that rise in waves to the north. Up till Chhata, the path continues to descend. It over a dark boulder and flows through an untamed creek before emerging in a stunning valley filled with a wide variety of wildflowers. The route travels from Chhata through Kursi Nala and Kuarsi before splitting at Brehi to travel to Lamu and Donali. Minikani Lake may be reached via Brehi, and the route to Drakund passes through a dense forest. The road passes Minikani Lake before heading to Kareri Lake, the camp at Kareri, and finally McLeodganj.

Best time to visit

The months of April through June and September through November are ideal for hiking the Indrahar Pass Trail. With the clear skies and temperate temperatures, the landscape is stunning at this time of year. There is no cloud cover over the mountains. However, bear in mind that Himalayan weather is notoriously difficult to predict. For this reason, it is prudent to check the weather report prior to embarking on an outdoor activity.
